On Saturday 21st May 2016, with a little help from a couple of friends of the band, we put a team into the Middlesex 8-bell competition at St Gabriel Pimlico, and we were placed first of the six teams who entered.
Our test piece was 224 Grandsire Triples, everyone chose Grandsire Triples except for one band who rang Plain Bob Triples. Another band who were planning to ring Stedman reverted to Grandsire Triples soon after pulling off for their practice piece. Some described these bells as "a handful" or "unrewarding", but others were less complementary.
They are not often rung, very loud outside and not very tuneful, so it was no surprise that there were some complaints from those living nearby; at least this should ensure the competition doesn't go back there any time soon.
